Suet for Birds
Suet is a hard, waxy animal fat obtainable in minced or cube form your local butcher or supermarket. It melts at low temperature to a soft, cloudy oil. It provides the bird with a good source of carbohydrates and protein in the winter. The best part of this bird treat is it contains sorghum that's health benefits include more antioxidants than blueberries.
You will Need:
4 cups suet
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 cup shelled sunflower seeds
1 cup sorghum seeds
1 cup of raisins
Preparation
Melt the suet in a saucepan over a low heat, then allow it to call until slightly thick andcombine the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl and stir in the suet. Mix thoroughly.
Roll into small balls and place on a tray, or pack into a pine cone. You could also smear the mixture on a tree trunk or branches.
