What to Feed a Baby Sparrow

This is a favourite with small birds such as sparrows and finches.  Sparrows enjoy whatever food is available. Why not treat the sparrows in your garden with some bird delicacies on a string. Hang the string where you can watch the birds break open the nuts and peck at the fruit.

You will need:

Unsalted mixed nuts
Peanuts in their sell
Popped popcorn
Pieces of fruit and berries
A large needle
Piece of string

Preparation:

  • Make holes with the needle in the nuts, fruit and popcorn and thread them on the string.
  • Tie a knot at one end of each food piece to keep the food in place
  • Hang the string by the other end from a tree branch or a shady spot with in your garden.

Watch the birds perform acrobatics to get to the delicacies on the string.
